About the studio
A working room for grown-up beginners and continuing players.
Fretwright Studio is an independent lesson space in central Bergen, made for adults who want a thoughtful relationship with the guitar.

Built around real attention.
The studio began with a simple observation: many adults carry a musical wish for years because lessons can feel too rigid, too fast, or strangely childish. Fretwright offers another pace. Here, questions are welcome, restarts are ordinary, and a favourite song can be a perfectly serious piece of study.
Our room on Strandgaten is small on purpose. It keeps the focus close: instrument, sound, conversation. The setting is informal but prepared, with guitars to try and enough quiet to hear a change in touch or timing.
Who comes here
Some visitors have never played. Others learned a handful of shapes years ago and want to find their way back. There are players looking for a better accompaniment part, writers wanting to understand their instrument, and people preparing to play with friends. There is no age bracket or required background; the common trait is a willingness to listen and return to the instrument regularly.
What to expect
You will be met as an adult with a particular musical history. We agree on a useful next step, work through it together, and make a modest plan for the days ahead. The aim is to leave you encouraged and clear, not overloaded. If that sounds like your kind of lesson, get in touch and tell us what you have been listening to.
